New Studio
May 11, 2011
At the beginning of the new year I bought a semi-auto screen printing press to make the printing process more efficient and less physically taxing. Once I got the beast in house, I realized that I was quickly outgrowing my old studio. I started looking around and I ended up moving into a new space in a building right down the street from my old space. I'm psyched about the new digs! As you can see from the pics above, it is spacious and filled with light. Since the move in March, I've been busy ordering parts, building closets, cleaning the press and drying racks and getting everything in working order. I should be back in production mode within the next few weeks.

New Print!
January 25, 2010
I spent the last few months of 2009 outfitting my studio so that I could begin making my own screen prints in house. The process took longer than expected, but I'm happy to announce the release of my first print done completely by yours truly. It's a new color version of my previous print "Chicago in Fall". This one is appropriately entitled "Chicago in Fall #2"! I figured I better get my feet wet with something that was familiar, so I dusted off the old films that I saved and went to work. For those of you familiar with the first version, you'll notice that along with the new palette, I added some falling leaves that are piling up on the ground beneath the tree. Now that I've successfully finished my first edition, I'm excited about new prints to come.

New Skateboard Graphic & Book Cover
April 03, 2009
I'm proud to announce the release of my first published skateboard graphic. It comes by way of James O'loughlin, an old friend of mine from Miami University (OH), who recently found me on facebook. Turns out he owns his own company called Effort Skateboards out of Cincinnati and he asked me to do a graphic. He saw a rough sketch version of the A-Frame graphic on my website that he liked, so I worked it up into a full size version for him. We had it printed on two different wood stain versions and I couldn't be more stoked with the results! Thanks James, let's do some more again soon...
I've got a few of the decks in both stains available for purchase here. They are $60 each (price includes shipping).
This year I've also had the good fortune of working with Actes Sud, A french publisher, who used a detail of my painting Turning Point on the cover of a recent novel. The Novel is entitled Rose Fountain Motel by Jabbour Douaihy. Too bad I can't read French, otherwise I'd be able to give you a synopsis.
Higher res files of both the skatetboard and book cover are posted on the illustration section of the site.
Stay tuned, I've got several engaging projects in the works currently and will have more info soon...

New print available & website updates
November 21, 2008
My newest Silkscreen print is now available!
The print is entitled Skokie Night and can be purchased at beholder-art.com. The print's dimensions are 20 X 24 inches in an edition of 125 on 100% rag paper. The print will fit into a standard 20 x 24 inch frame size, which creates more options for affordable framing. This one ended up being very complex weighing in at a whopping 11 total colors (my previous print, 'Chicago in Fall', was only 5 colors). Once again the good folks at Sonnenzimmer print studio in Chicago took the reigns and helped me bring this puppy to life. I can't say enough good things about them. I'm extremely proud of this print!
In other news, I've added new pages to the site featuring prints, illustration and sketch book pages. I've been meaning to do this for awhile so I'm excited to get it all up for others to view. In addition to my painting career, I'm now seeking work as a freelance illustrator and this site will help serve as a portfolio for that endeavor as well. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

My study for the painting "Migration" was recently used on the cover of a poetry book by Elizabeth Hughey entitled "Sunday Houses the Sunday House".
